HomeBase Takes the Polar Plunge

The HomeBase Prevost bus served as a warming station at the 19th Annual Chicago Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics. On Sunday, over 7,500 people braved the icy waters of Lake Michigan with special guests Alderman Matt O’Shea (19th Ward), Special Olympics Executive Skinny Sheahan, actor David Eigenberg from Chicago Fire, and actor Colin Egglesfield from Backtrace.

HomeBase participants raising money to support this cause included Brother Rice High School, Mother McAuley High School, the Chicago Teachers Union, Iron Workers Local #63, the Chicago Fire Department, and Local Plumbers Union #130.

Because of Special Olympics, the world has witnessed the courage, character, dedication, dignity, and worth of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
