HomeBase Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

There is nothing quite like St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago and this year was no exception. HomeBase celebrated in Beverly Sunday at the place to be, the South Side Irish Parade.

HomeBase kicked off the day cheering on the Emerald Mile participants who raced down Western Avenue prior to the parade. This fun, all-ages event and fundraiser helps support the Parade. From there, the HomeBase crew headed to the Prevost Bus (Land Yacht) that was stationed on Western Avenue for some networking and a wee bit o’ fun with local HomeBase participants!

The HomeBase crew was privileged to salute the 2019 Grand Marshal, Honor Flight Chicago. Founded in 2008, this group recognizes America’s senior war veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. HomeBase is thankful to our veterans for their service and sacrifice.

Also introduced at the parade was this year’s South Side Irish Parade Queen, Maggie Clifford. Another important highlight among the captivating floats, marching bands, bagpipers, and neighborhood groups was the 2019 Special Honoree, Choose Kind. This locally-based movement is dedicated to promoting kindness and raising awareness of Apert Syndrome.

As the day came to an end, while the kids gobbled up their last bit of parade candy and the adults finished their last pint, the HomeBase crew took a moment to reflect on how lucky we are to be a part of this amazing community.
